Public Awareness and Advocacy Committee: Advocating for a Decolonized Thanksgiving

T hanksgiving is deeply ingrained in North American culture, often associated with family gatherings, delicious food, and expressions of gratitude. But the history Thanksgiving also intertwined colonialism, oppression, violence against Indigenous peoples. It crucial that children’s librarians take steps to decolonize promote a more accurate inclusive understanding holiday. The lived experiences ongoing struggles peoples need be acknowledged honored.
